Aeolian Theatre

Aeolian Theatre is the company I have formed with my friend and collaborator, puppeteer Lindsay Abromaitis-Smith.  We are working on our first piece for the HERE Arts Center as part of the Artist Residency program there.  The piece, entitled Epyllion had it’s first work in progress production as part of HERE’s Culturemart festival this past January.  We are excitied to continue working on it this year to present a new version next January.

Epyllion is a new creation myth told through puppetry, dance, ritual and song.  You can read more about it on our culturemart page or our artist’s page at the HERE website.  More photos of our process can be found on our facebook page!  And video of the Culturemart performance on vimeo, videography courtesy of Rebecca Arndt.

Below are some early pictures from our process.  Enamored of the painter Remedios Varo, we began by immersing ourselves in her world and our first models were very much inspired by it.  Here is Lindsay at work in our space, accompanied by some of the first drafts of emerging characters.
