SOLO FOR TWO
First developed as part of my senior thesis at Amherst College, I have since grown and honed this piece, performing it in numerous variety shows, cabarets, puppet slams, and dance concerts around the U.S.
THE SUITCASE STORY
A mysterious suitcase transports our impish heroine through countless adventures to pluck at your heartstrings and tickle your funny bone as she finds her way on life’s path. Told through clown, puppetry, acrobatics, maps and music.
From our audiences:
“Ms. Jaster is a walking poem; expressive from her head to her toes. Literally.”
“Thank you for taking us along on your journey yesterday. We were very moved. You are brilliant! (how DO you do that with your feet!!)”
“We had a lovely time on Sunday. Thank you so much for having and sharing such artistry.”
PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS
Commissioned for the SUPERNOVA Performance Art Festival 2013.
Here I play with the value of thinking vs. doing. The piece is based on an experience I had while Zen-walking in Taiwan with U-Theatre. I realized that the more thoughts I had in my head, the more effort was necessary to simply, literally, move forward. For the performance, I created a wire headdress that could hold post-it notes skewered on to its wires. I equipped myself with blank post-its, pens, pennies, and a bell that sounds like an old-school cash register. I then walked through the park offering to give people a penny if they gave me a thought they no longer wanted to hold on to. They wrote their thought on a post-it, attached it to my headdress, and walked away with a ring of my bell and a penny in their pocket.
An experiment in Dada and Puppetry.
A short piece created for Happenstance Theater's First Annual Valentine's Brouhaha. Here is a little in-studio peek at the work.
